A smaller sized bedroom can easily end up looking cluttered and cramped. Yet there are some simple steps to making a small bedroom work, so it looks tidy and organised.

Solve the storage problem

Even in a small room there will be space for a corner cupboard. Grab your measuring tape and start searching for a storage unit that’ll fit in the space you have to work with. You can also save space and store items underneath your bed. Invest in appropriate storage units that will slide easily beneath the bed so that you can keep things neat.

Pick light colours

Paint the walls in a light colour, and keep your bed linen in soft tones too. It’ll give the impression that the room is bigger than it really is. Darker colours tend to make a room seem more closed in, so avoid using them as a dominant shade in a small bedroom.

Brighten it up

Get your lighting right, as this will have a big impact on the room. The rule for small spaces is the more light, the better. However, avoid filling your bedroom with lamps as these take up a lot of space.
