Orange is a fun, vibrant colour that makes you feel energised. If you feel like you need an extra pick-me-up in the mornings, orange could be the perfect shade to use when decorating your bedroom.

Whether in decor or fashion, 2013 has seen no shortage of orange hues, with it being one of the hottest colours this year. According to House to Home, there are plenty of ways to introduce the colour to your bedroom and offers five of the best:

Draw or retract attention

Try painting a favourite piece a bright orange to accentuate it or keep it more subtle by painting the area just behind it. If you are wanting to hide something such as an ugly wardrobe, try painting it the same colour as the wall.

To tone down the orange in your bedroom, look for a shade with a touch of brown, such as a copper.

Try drawing the eye up by painting the ceiling a bright orange. This is a great way to lower a tall ceiling for a more intimate feel or to show off interesting ceiling details.

Analogous colours

Look on a colour wheel at the shades on either side of the orange you have selected to use. Pale yellows and reds bring a colourful but not to garish vibe to a room.

Feature wall

Create a bold accent wall behind your bed with a zesty orange and then keep the rest of the room neutral with grey and white hues.
